Volunteers for #YYJFreelanceCamp – Interested?

Your interest in a local freelance camp has been outstanding – thank you for the support and suggestions you’ve provided so far. Skip to the bottom of the page if you’re interested in going to the 604FreelanceCamp in Vancouver on September 10.

I’d love to procrastinate a bit further – but it looks like there’s more than enough interest and available talent, so a Freelance Camp in Victoria is looking to be a necessity, not just a whim.  Since Vancouver is holding their event in September, we should plan our event for October.

If you’re interested in volunteering to help coordinate this event, please send me a note to introduce yourself and us what your skills are so we can make sure you’re not wasting your time. (If you aren’t sure what FreelanceCamp is – please click here)

Here’s what we’re looking at:

A one day event, with 5-6 speakers presenting to ~50 of the talented freelancers (solopreneurs, wannabe freelancers, and anyone else interested in learning more about the work from home lifestyle)

Ticket price TBD, but we’d like to find sponsors for:

  • lunch
  • coffee
  • after party
  • prizes
This is a not-for-profit venture, so any funds collected beyond our costs will be donated to a charity selected by the attendees. (Beer is not a charity…)
Areas we need help with (other than everything!)
  • branding (freelance camp logo, social media presence/updates)
  • venue (we have options, but nothing established yet)
  • speakers (organizing/communicating)
  • sponsors (lunch, coffee, beer, prizes)
  • printed materials (program with ads for local businesses)
With 5-6 volunteers, we should be able to create the event without a tonne of work landing on any one person.  If you’re interested – please email.  If you’ve got questions/suggestions, please email.  If you’re lonely and want to escape for a coffee – please email 🙂 (jason@brandscaping.ca)

Vancouver Freelance Camp – Sept 10, 10am – 5:30pm

The NetworkHub in Vancouver will be holding their second iteration of FreelanceCamp on September 10.  Tickets are $10 (+eventbrite) The camp is scheduled for a 10am start to allow for us island folks to get there on time.  The first ferry is at 7am, so if you’re interested in going, please let me know and maybe we can work out a carpool.  I’ve got room for 3-4 folks, email if interested.
