Self Promotion

Who are you?

Does anyone know who you are?  Do you decide what they know about you, or do you leave this up to chance?

Brandscaping isn’t about fabricating an image that you would like to portray, but it does involve identifying the elements of you and your personality that you want need to showcase.  This applies to you personally as well as to your business.  Determine the facets that you want to demonstrate, and then find ways to bring this to your audience.  Actions always speak louder than words.

Teri Tiffany has some good comments from a question she posted in her blog last week, but bottom line, it doesn’t matter if you don’t believe in self promotion – it’s a fact of life in the business world.  If people don’t know who you are, how can they invest in your product, your company, or you?

Mark Palony provides some excellent advice on the difference between self-promotion and self-serving.  Effective Brandscaping includes helping others, because in the new Web world this is the best way to help yourself.

Be known for what you do.  Choose what you are known for.
